Grow Ops

Instead of having one large flower room with multiple strains, Kind Therapeutics has multiple small flower rooms for a customized approach to each strain. This ensures that each plant gets the individual attention it needs to thrive, resulting in better quality products. The farmers stress that "the plants are our boss," and that everything they do is geared towards providing the best possible environment for the plants to grow and flourish.

One of their methods is to use living soil in their indoor operation. Kind Therapeutics is one of the few places on the East Coast that uses soil this way. Living soil provides significant benefits to the plants and the environment as it promotes culture over chemicals. Every input that the plant receives is chosen to promote healthy growth. To limit cross-contamination between rooms, the team takes great care to sanitize and change their scrubs before entering each room to ensure the plants are not exposed to any harmful pathogens or contaminants.

Once the flowers are ready to be harvested, the plants upside down for 12 to 14 days to dry and cure them. The buds are all removed by hand to ensure high quality buds and to minimize product loss. Once the flower is harvested, they are cured for another 10 to 12 days for the best release of oil.

Extracting Oil

The natural growing process is mirrored in their bubble hash extraction process. Only cold water and no solvents are used to extract the resin through agitation and filtering. Their bubble hash highlights the high quality trichomes from their flowers.

The cold wash oil for the Betty's and Bubbies Baked comes out of this process, and they use a cup 15 cold wash extraction to recover the solvent through a roto-evaporation process.

Kind Therapeutics uses three different methods to extract oils for carts and edibles. Cold wash oil creates a full spectrum oil used in Betty’s Eddies and Bubby’s Baked. Ethanol is used to extract the oil and then filtered out so the oil can be refined for use.

Short path distillate, healer processes, and hydrocarbon extraction create the oil used for vapes and edible gummies. Hydrocarbon extraction creates THCA crystals that hold on to more cannabinoids than short path distillate.

Making Edibles

The kitchen is where the magic happens! One of the most popular products produced in their kitchen is Betty Eddies Taffy. This taffy is made in small, handcrafted batches and is packaged using an old taffy packaging machine from 1923. What makes Betty Eddies Taffy special is that it contains full-spectrum cannabis oil, which means that it contains a broad range of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other beneficial compounds found in the cannabis plant. Vibations energy drink powder made in house also contains the full-spectrum cannabis oil.

Bubby's infused baked goods are another favorite of customers.These were the first company to produce baked goods infused with cannabis in Maryland, and they have become known for their delicious chocolate chip cookies, brownies, and snickerdoodles. These baked goods are made with high-quality ingredients and infused with cannabis oil to create a tasty treat that provides a gentle and long-lasting high.
